What will you do to demonstrate your findings/research?
Syllabus reference: 8.2.1.1: compare the abiotic characteristics of aquatic and terrestrial environments
8.2.1.2: identify the factors determining the distribution and abundance of a species in each environment
8.2.2.5: explain trophic interactions between organisms in an ecosystem using food chains, food webs and pyramids of biomass and energy
8.2.2.6: define the term adaptation and discuss the problems associated with inferring characteristics of organisms as adaptations for living in a particular habitat

Class Internet Research and PowerPoint Presentation Task:
To be done in pairs (or three where no other option is available)
You will need to construct a PowerPoint presentation using your laptop to share with the class of your ecosystem of choice.
You will need to discover and research only using legitimate websites the following about your chosen ecosystem;
1. Where is it (location, map) and type of ecosystem (eg. desert, coral reef)
2. The typical abiotic factors that are recorded there (eg. average temp, rainfall amount per year, amount of sunlight, and any other information you may discover)
3. What biotic factors are found there (eg.organisms such as plants and animals, that exist in this ecosystem with pictures and adaptations they have to this ecosystem). Add pictures of these animals.
4. Discuss the problems associated with inferring characteristics of organisms (eg. plants or animals) as adaptations for living in your ecosystem.
5. A typical food chain and food web in your ecosystem using the organisms you mentioned previously.
6. Name each of the following: Predator, Carnivore, Herbivore, Producer, Decomposer and if possible a scavenger.
7. You need to include a reference list of website accessed and dates accessed.
8. Present this presentation to your class, and the time duration is 4- 5 minutes.
